Check where your shoulders are right now. If they are somewhere up near your ears, welcome to the club. Most of us carry the day in our shoulders, jaw and hands, and we do it for hours without noticing.
Three times today, run a ten second check. Drop your shoulders. Unclench your jaw and let your tongue fall away from the roof of your mouth. Open your hands. You do not have to relax your whole body or feel calm afterward. Just notice what was tight and let it go one notch.
Tie the check to something you already do, like sitting down at your desk, stopping at a red light, or waiting for the microwave. The tension will creep back, because that is what it does. The practice is catching it a little sooner each time.
