Stairs are the most efficiently ignored architecture in your life. You climb them while scrolling, while talking, while thinking about literally anything except the act of climbing them — a flight of fifteen identical, forgettable moments.
Next set of stairs you hit, try treating the climb as the destination instead of the obstacle before one. Feel your foot land on each step. Notice your breathing change by step eight. Let your hand actually feel the railing instead of just resting on it out of habit.
You’ll get to the top in the same amount of time you always do. The only difference is you’ll have actually been there for the climb, instead of arriving at the landing with no memory of the fifteen steps that got you there.
